DISNEY UNVEILS NEW LION KING RIDE AND EXPANSION PLANS

Disney has announced a brand new Lion King attraction coming to its Paris resort, alongside a slew of other expansion plans for its theme parks and cruise ships.

The new Lion King ride, unveiled at the D23 convention, will take visitors on a journey through the African savanna with iconic characters from the beloved film. The experience will feature a log flume plummeting down Pride Rock, with Rafiki the monkey watching on.

This announcement comes as Disney reports weaker than expected theme park results for the quarter ending in June. However, the company is investing heavily in its theme park and cruise businesses, with plans to spend $60 billion over the next decade.

Other upcoming attractions include a themed area based on the Frozen franchise, set to launch in 2026 in Paris, and a Monsters Inc roller coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios park. Additionally, four new cruise ships will be added to the fleet by 2031.

These expansion plans aim to boost Disney’s profits, which have been impacted by declining consumer demand and higher operating costs. However, the company’s parks remain a reliable profit engine, contributing 60% of its operating profit in the most recent quarter.
